Phonics Intervention Dice Game

Use this game with any Letter-sound correspondences the children are struggling with for speedy success!
What You Need
A blank die
Word cards containing the phoneme / spelling alternative being taught. These can be written on cards or printed from the Phonics Programme you are following.
What To Do
Explain that this is going to be dice game where the children have got to read as many words as they can in 1 minute.
The children take it in turns to roll the dice. As the first word is rolled, all of the children need to say each of the separate sounds (phonemes) in the word, then blend these back together to read the whole word. Expect everyone to join in.
A second word is rolled by the next child following the same process. All children must join in with saying each of the separate phonemes (sounds), blending these back together to read the whole word.
Play continues in this way for 1 minute, with the dice being passed along and all of the children blending to read all together. Don’t forget to keep score of how many words have been read.
Share the number of words read with the children. Explain that the aim is to improve on this score next time the children play this game.
